EatFresh.org Mini Course for Educators (English)(EFMC-TEACHER) |
The EatFresh.org Mini Course for Educators was designed to support nutrition educators. Like the Mini Course, it’s available in English and Spanish and is mobile friendly. The five topics for educators support leading efficient and effective classes using CalFresh Healthy Living messaging, adult learning theories, and facilitation best practices. The topics also incorporate ideas on how to utilize specific resources from our Food Smarts Curriculum and EatFresh.org to complement nutrition programming. However, the course was designed to be useful to any nutrition educator, not just those educators working with the Food Smarts Curriculum. Each topic takes about 20 minutes to complete. |

Trauma-Informed Nutrition: Principles and Application of TI Care to the Field of Dietetics() |
Psychological trauma is a pervasive and harmful public health issue. Its impacts can be lasting and severe without proper intervention and prevention. Due to the high prevalence of trauma, registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN) are likely to experience clients, patients, and community members who have histories of trauma; therefore, it is critical and urgent for dietetic professionals to integrate trauma-informed approaches into practice.
This webinar will discuss the application of trauma-informed principles to clinical, counseling, and community dietetic work. We will introduce trauma and its biological impacts and will discuss the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) principles of trauma-informed care. These principles include safety and transparency, empowerment, voice and choice, and peer support. |
