Food Smarts for Waste Reduction Workshops

Food Smarts for Waste Reduction Workshops

Leah’s Pantry is collaborating with Fresh Approach and the Office of Sustainability in San Mateo County to provide three weekly series of nutrition education workshops that promote food waste reduction practices, food preservation techniques, and benefits of composting. This program aims to reduce food waste while increasing food security and advance environmental sustainability.

Program participants earn $6 VeggieRX Vouchers for every class they attend and can earn up to $18 total (3 classes x $6). VeggieRX Vouchers can be used to buy produce at eligible farmers’ markets. Participants are not required to attend all three classes (but highly encouraged to!). Program participants must be a resident of San Mateo County to earn vouchers.

Structure: 3 total sessions, 60-90-minutes each, once a week for 3 consecutive weeks (or months)

Audience: Adult residents of San Mateo County (can be modified for youth and older adults)

Languages provided: English, Spanish, and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)

Workshops are open to the public, in partnership with Fresh Approach (click the link to see additional classes offered by Fresh Approach).

If you are interested in learning more and would like to collaborate, please contact Anna at anna@leahspantry.org.
