Powerful (and unsurprising) research shows that if we want to eradicate hunger, we must address racism/discrimination. The Philadelphia study found that people who experience daily discrimination are nearly TWICE as likely to struggle with hunger. Chilton, who co-authored the research, shared that “If we are just fighting to strengthen SNAP [formerly food stamps], or for better jobs and higher wages—we’ll make little progress. We have to go deeper to the root causes.”
