Description:  This training applies trauma-informed principles to youth garden education through self-paced content and live Zoom sessions. Topics include teaching strategies in garden settings and establishing the garden as a space for healing and community collaboration. As part of this training, participants will create an implementation plan for their garden program and network with other garden educators. It is recommended that participants have completed a previous Leah’s Pantry trauma-informed training, although optional content is included for participants without prior trauma-informed nutrition training.

Audience:  Garden Educators, Classroom Teachers, and Volunteers who play a role in youth garden education

Training Delivery and Dates:  This training includes self-paced content (videos, reflection activities, and readings) and instructor-led Zoom sessions. Registered participants will need to complete approximately an hour and a half of self-paced work prior to the first live session on 3/31.  Key dates are as follows:

  • Online Course Now Open
  • Zoom Sessions: March 31 and April 14 from 10am-12pm PST

Total Training Time:  Approximately seven hours (4 hours of live sessions and about 3 hours of self-paced work)
