San Diego

Leah’s Pantry operates from two organizational headquarters, with one in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego. Since San Diego serves as a primary location for many of our staff members, we are actively engaged in community initiatives. Our team participates in local committees and collaboratives, contributing to Hunger Free San Diego, San Diego Food Systems Alliance, and San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative.

San Diego School Garden Program

Leah’s Pantry became the fiscal sponsor of Barrio Botany, a school-based garden program operating in historically marginalized neighborhoods of San Diego in 2016.  The garden program provides students with instruction grounded in trauma-informed practices that prioritize safety, trust, empowerment, and collaboration. Through guided activities and experiential learning, students develop a deeper understanding of ecological principles, nutrition, and sustainable food systems. Our garden educators teach valuable skills such as planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting, cultivating a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and respect for the environment. This program also supports garden builds and Level Up summer programs for San Diego Unified students.
