Food Smarts Waste Reduction for Adults
Overview
This evidence-based nutrition education curriculum is designed for leading interactive workshops with adults to promote food waste reduction while engaging in healthy eating. The lessons guide participants to be resourceful and creative in the kitchen in order to economize and avoid food waste.
Participant Goals:
- Understand the consequences of food waste and the importance of its reduction
- Learn how to repurpose food scraps, revitalize leftovers, store, and preserve food
- Develop individual goals for minimizing food waste
- Learn recipes and cooking techniques that aid in reducing food waste
- Learn strategies for decreasing waste from packaging, “expired” food, and improper food storage
- Increase fruit and vegetable consumption

Become a Food Smarts Waste Reduction for Adults curriculum facilitator and build nutrition and cooking skills while engaging participants to reduce food waste and its harmful effects on the planet.

This course is free for CFHL- funded agencies. What does this mean?
